Use email when it’s more practical than other forms of communication. That’s often the case, but a company where everyone is glued to their inbox becomes more inward-looking than outward-facing. Also, limit mass emails of the type: ‘I can’t find my pen, have you seen it?’ or ‘Check out this disgusting porn image I happened to find online.’ And remember the only difference between an email and a postcard: with a postcard, you might still intercept it by tackling the postman, but an email is irrevocable. This is especially true if you’re a bit annoyed and hit ‘reply’ instead of ‘forward.’ See also “Social Media”.
